I went out today to LocationX (lets just say Arvada, CO.)for 3 hours and managed to land 6 carp, biggest one being a nice 17 lb. male(he jizzed all over me).My two Carpin' bretheren landed 5 between both of them. The carp were mostly on spawning mode but, I was able to find a few 'loners' that were willing to eat my flies. I'm going back next week because I did see a Koi that might be around 8 pounds!

I'm glad that mess wasn't in your boat.

I wish I could see more of that fancy trolling motor in the picture.

Got off to a really slow start, and things got better. I harry it up at the end of Oct, time to go trout fishing. Really had some great days towards the end.

Proof you can catch fish on a $22 fly rod (and a $200 reel, lol)

This was a new fly, did good on it. It's called "The Beyonce"

I hope everyone else had a good season.

For those about to Carp

This one has killings of Carp. If you don't like this sort of thing, then don't watch it. Keep in mind this is on private land and the owners are trying to rehabilitate thier section of water. Carp are invasive and damaging to some waters. This is one of them. We get to go fishing and part of the catch is that the Carp need to be culled.
Carp Killer

And the first one we made, just having fun. It's pretty crappy but hopefully next year I'll have a better camera, more footage, and better work.

It's a private ranch who is trying to return things to a native state, and trying to get rid of the Carp is part of the plan. We just kill them humanely with a knife and toss them in the hay field. There are plenty of critters and birds to eat them. One fish was gone in under 10 minutes when we passed back by. Nothing goes to waste in nature. I have thought about trying them myself, can't be that bad could they? Or maybe see if some Asian resturants would want them for fresh fish on the cheap? Really they are like cockroaches.

In the "old" days, when I was in College, we used to catch Carp on their spawning runs and sell them to an Asian owned fish market. The owner's wife had us over to dinner one evening and cooked one of the Carp. It was great. I tried to make the dish myself and it sucked but I also suck as a cook.

I bet if any Carp would be good, it would be these ones. Clear, clean cold water that trout live in. You know the whole world outside of the the US and Canada thinks they are great eating.
