East Rosebud Lake: June 18, 2006. Sunny but windy. Water 38 degrees. If you've never visited East Rosebud Lake, get your butt up there and see it. It is a gorgeous spot, even though a large fire scorched nearly everything about 8 years ago. Its private property around the perimeter of the lake, but there is a single public boat launch. Its FS land everywhere else, and lots of trailheads start here. Me, my son and B-I-L took our pontoons out for a few hours and fought the wind, but I did manage to catch a large, plump 19 inch rainbow and a smallish 11-12 inch brown. We didn't get to the far end of the lake where the deeper water was, but I definitely plan on getting back there soon. The scenery is breath-taking, scantily clad hotties canoes the shores, bear, deer, eagles abound along with a few elk, and fishing ain't half bad.

It look like the 'Bud is dropping quickly now and will soon be floatable. The water remains very cold. We saw several different hatches throughout the day which included both tan and black caddis, about six different butterflies, midges, a dark gray to black mayfly I haven't identified, and little yellow stones.
